Welcome to Help Save Delilah!

Say Hello to Delilah, my 11 year old palomino Fox Trotter. She is the most incredible horse and the best friend I could ever have!

Last Summer Delilah had an unfortunate accident and got her front foot caught inbetween two horse panels where they connect. Circulation to her hoof was cut off for some time before we discovered her and she has lost her hoof. My parents and I did not have the heart to put her down and began looking for other options to save her. We contacted Mountain Horse Medical Clinic in Park City, at http://www.mountainhorsemedical.com, and spoke to Dr. Charmian Wright. She said the best doctor for a case like this just happens to be in town and she graciously made a call to Dr. Ric Redden from Kentucky. As luck would have it he was working on an amputee case right next to Delilah at South Valley Large Animal Clinic in South Jordan, Utah and said he would be glad to take a look at Delilah. Dr. Redden has developed a way to save horses who have lost their hoof with a proceedure called a pin cast.

Delilah has had to have several expensive surgeries so far. The most major one was the Pin Cast Surgery where Dr. Redden inserted the pins in her bone above the hoof to hold the weight to allow her hoof to grow. (See Delilah's story and the pictures in the photo album.) Several surgeries, medical costs, boarding, etc... have all added up and we could use some help in covering some of her vet bills. Anything you could spare would help and be greatly appreciated! We have come so far it would be a shame to have to quit on her now!

I just want horse owners to know, the technology is there to try to save your horse if a hoof is lost. It can be done! You don't have to put your horses down! There are two places in Utah now, thanks to Dr. Ric Redden at http://www.nanric.com in Kentucky for sharing his expertise, that can handle cases such as this. Contact South Valley Large Animal Clinic, in South Jordan Utah, and Mountain Horse Medical Center, in Park City Utah for a consultation.

There are still risks involved and anything could happen.....We are hoping for the best! Delilah has been a great patient and put up with alot. She has never given up and to me she is telling me she wants to live! We will try to do all we can for you Delilah! Thank you so much for listening to our story! And any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! I know you will fall in love with Delilah as you read on!
